We’re celebrating Colin’s legacy every month in our online store by putting a different print on sale for 20% off.

For the month of June, 2025, you can save 20% on the large signed version of Colin’s striking Red X-Wing Attack print by using the code COLIN at checkout.

Asked about this print by his long-term partner, Sierra Dall, Colin explained: “This is one of the few sketches I did about a battle scene. This ship [the X-Wing] is firing its weapons and this large, heavily armed ship, which we only see part of, is shooting at the attacking ship.”

This print is one of several to feature Colin’s early iterations on the Rebel Alliance’s famous X-Wing Fighter. Its form is familiar to Star Wars fans, of course, and the pointed nose on this one is an interesting feature because Colin said he was inspired by watching people play darts in a British pub when considering how this spacecraft should look. This was likely a very early iteration of the X-Wing.

We only see part of the Imperial Star Destroyer here, and we don’t know if it’s a glimpse of a larger ship that Colin already had in mind or if it was always meant to just be a hint of something else. Like many other Star Wars ships, the Star Destroyer went through multiple iterations, with a model Colin built bearing a striking resemblance to the finished form.

And, of course, we all know that an early Star Destroyer concept drawing was pulled out of the ILM vault and became the Cantwell-Class Arrestor Cruiser, as seen in season one of Andor on Disney+. You can learn more about that in a blog post on this site. We also explored the in-universe origin of the ship’s name, since, of course, there must be a Star Wars character whose name was used for the ship. (In this case, it’s Republic starship designer Walex Cantwell Blissex, who later defected to the Rebel Alliance.
