The creation of the X-Wing
Colin was never satisfied with being ordinary, It took him three days to conjure up the image of the X-Wing. The vision that inspired him was that of people throwing darts in an English Pub. Once the ship took shape in his mind, he created the pencil on paper drawings of the ships in record time. He wanted the X-Wing to have the aura of a “Good Guy” ship that could be easily differentiated from the ominous feeling of the Death Star, Star Destroyer and TIE Fighter. He imagined the ship appearing as a cowboy drawing its guns.
